A small tool for one specific problem.

FlowTab is not trying to replace your browser, or become another cloud workspace. It does one thing: gets you back to a page you remember, across tabs, bookmarks, and history.

Why it exists

Too many tabs is less a tidying problem than a finding problem. You usually remember the name, the site, or roughly what was on the page. You just don’t remember which window it is in.

FlowTab starts there: one global shortcut, one search field, and an index that includes both the pages you have open and the ones you saved.

How it is built

The app is written in Rust with Tauri and a Svelte interface. Pages and the search index live in a local SQLite file. Tab switching goes through macOS automation. Chinese page names are indexed with full pinyin and initials.

It lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. The first time you switch a tab, macOS asks for permission to control your browser.

Data and limits

No account, no server, no upload. There is no cloud sync and no analytics. When you remove the app, you can remove the local data with it.

Chrome and Edge are fully supported. The current release is Apple Silicon only. Safari is not supported yet; Intel, Windows, and Linux are on the list.

About this site: static pages, no third-party fonts; anonymous analytics by Cloudflare Web Analytics.
